We expect that all work you submit is your own. All submissions should be your own original work and reflect the current theme, which can be found on our website. We prefer rhymed & metered verse and literary horror. Please be sure to check your work for spelling and punctuation errors before sending it to us. We will try to answer all submissions within 30 days. If you don't hear from us, please feel free to submit again at the next open call for submissions.
Contributor Bio
Authors are asked to provide a brief bio, along with a photo, for inclusion in publication.
Poetry
Submit up to three (3) poems at a time
Short Stories, Articles and Essays
pdf and word files are preferred.
Submit one (1) short story at a time, per issue.
Spoken Word
Submit up to three (3) sound files
Art & Photography
Submit up to three (3) pieces of work for consideration per issue.
Simultaneous Submissions
We do not encourage simultaneous submissions, but will consider previously published work. If you do submit simultaneously and your work is accepted elsewhere, contact us as soon as possible to withdraw your work.
By submitting your work to Scarlet, you grant us an electronic right publish your work in our online magazine and a publishing right to include your work in our flip-through version of the magazine. Once published in Scarlet, your work may appear in our online archive section, for the issue in which your work appeared. All Authors and Artists retain the rights to their work. If, at any time, you feel the need to withdraw your submission, please email us.
